Our Nation’s Capitol is worth the trip.  A planned city, Washington, D.C. has something for everyone - and most of it is free.  The National Monuments and Museums are classics.  Just standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial blows away any grade school history class.  Realizing the foresight Thomas Jefferson brought to America is truly enlightening.  Viewing the rows of head stones in Arlington is emotionally quiet.  Democracy is witnessed in action with sidewalk protests.  I really liked the simplicity of riding those colored subways lines around and popping up in another historic and photogenic location.  American dream.
